GIG 2012
We went to GIG!
And $105 dollars later, Ferguson now has his own more masculine raincoat (Winry essentially took the yellow one...fits her better anyway), Winry finally has a warm winter coat, and I have a replacement squawker, more Pawz boots, and a super cute sweatshirt that is my favorite color that has a greyhound on it. It was a successful trip.
Winry, I think, had the most fun out of anyone though. Her two-year-oldness isn't really that obvious most of the time, but it sure did establish itself at this event. She was SO excited to see every greyhound and desperately wanted to greet each and every one of them. Normally when we pass other dogs, she's moderately interested and while she'd like to say "hi" she is able to contain herself. With greyhounds, this was much more difficult for her! I think she missed her greyhound brethren. I found this funny in contrast to Ferguson, who would occasionally go say "hi" to the other hounds, but never once made his leash taut in effort to get to another dog (when Winry did literally every time!).
The hours of walking and greeting has left them still sleepy, even two days after! I think we'll have to take just a leisurely stroll in the park perhaps, instead of a dog park visit.
Ferguson's Visit at Uncle Chris's
Last week, I was able to (thankfully) get some vacation time in to the Outer Banks with the boyfriend and his family. For a whole week, it was all beach, sun, and relaxing...something I very much needed. However, where we were staying did not allow dogs; though, even if it did, it would have been admittedly difficult had Ferguson, or any dog, been there too. So, while we were gone for the week, Ferguson stayed at his former foster's, otherwise known as Uncle Chris's! He gave me a hard time about leaving him, trying his best to convince me he would spend the whole time moping and missing me...I guess he'd be embarrassed to see videos like this one Chris took and sent ;).
I was happy to hear that Ferguson was a perfect gentlemen during his stay. I'd like to say he's glad to be home, but has spent most of his time sleeping. I think his muscles are a bit sore from all that running...he continues to seem a bit out of it. Still, he is back to being my shadow whenever I should leave the room ^_^.
Things on the training front are looking bright. I'm now able to provide testing and classes at work, and have at least 3 people interested in starting CGC courses in September :). Ferguson, of course, will be the demo dog.
Look, I even made a Facebook page! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Canine-Good-Citizenship-with-Jenny/161364277272828
Let's Play...Where's Ferg?
Because I was a bad Mommy and failed to take nearly enough pictures, I've been fortunate enough that there were OTHER good mommies and daddies at the picnic that DID take lots of pictures...enough that Ferguson pops up in some of them! So, a few hints:
Ferguson is red (duh) though many of the dogs were. But, he has a green muzzle! Let's see if you can spot him in these pictures where I was able to.

Okay, so this one is a bit more obvious...(Thanks to Ferg's foster, Chris! These are wonderful :D)

One note to self amongst others that I will surely add on to later: Carry camera at all times and take a zillion pictures next year.

Our First GEGR Picnic :)
What a day it was. I think Ferguson and I are still a bit worn out from it!
There was lots of good food, music, and of course, a ton of greyhounds. Unfortunately, with all the excitement, my camera was not as handy for the best parts :(. But, Ferguson did get to run, wade in water, and collapse in a baby pool, all in the company of his greyhound friends.
(And Eric too, of course ;))
My little black crocheted greyhound was auctioned off, and Ferguson was able to get a new muzzle (due to a mishap that occurred while my parents were babysitting). Ferg also got to say hi to Uncle Chris, his foster.

By this point, Ferguson was quite tired, but I believe he did recognize Chris (he doesn't flop over for belly rubs for just anyone!).
We also have enough treats to get us through the winter. There were many free samples of tasty-looking things in our goody bag that I think we'll go ahead and utilize in the next few days as we gear up for our (hopefully) CGC test tomorrow evening.
As part of the test, Ferguson must appear clean and well groomed, and after some wadding through the bay yesterday, I think a bath may be in order. However, Ferg really did enjoy those baby pools. I'm thinking we may need to go pick him up one (they're like $10, right?) perhaps tonight. Then, he can run and go for a long walk to get all hot and tired and actually enjoy the coolness while we bathe him...Luckily, I think Eric will be around to help.
So, in the next day or so, I need to seriously up my photography skills during these special upcoming events. Until then, though, I'm glad I at least thought to get a couple...
