It's Saturday, so time for a dog song at Talking Dogs.  Today's song deals with that age old question:  should dogs be allowed to sleep on the bed.  I don't know about you, but at our house all three dogs are allowed to sleep with us on our bed.  Jeffie even has his own pillow!

Dog Song Saturday: The Animal Rescue Song by Jayne Olderman

It's Saturday!  So, time for a dog song at Talking Dogs!  Today we have a beautiful original dog song for you.

I've Got a Feeling (The Animal Rescue Song) was written by Jayne Olderman and Dwayna Litz.  Included on Jayne's CD In the Moment, I've Got a Feeling is available on iTunes, AmazonMP3 and eMusic.

The music video that accompanies the song was also created by Jayne Olderman.  It tells the story of dog rescue and adoption.  Go ahead and watch - these are HAPPY STORIES!

The opening scene reminds me so much of the day we adopted Jeffie.  Yes, Jeffie was a shelter puppy and so this dog song seemed very appropriate to include in his gala month long birthday celebration.

Dog Song Saturday: Shelter Dog Music Video

It's Saturday!  Time for a dog song at Talking Dogs.  We're continuing Jeffie's month long birthday celebration with an appropriate dog song music video today.

Shelter Dog is an original dog song composed by Sandy Anderson and performed here by Eric Coslop.  The song was inspired by the dogs at the Cumberland County SPCA and the video encourages viewers to foster, volunteer, donate, and adopt from an animal shelter.  

Even if you cannot bear to see these dogs in a shelter environment, please give a listen to this lovely, poignant song.  And while you listen, consider  life as a shelter dog.

Jeffie was a shelter dog.  Even though a very cute puppy, he spent 4 weeks waiting to be adopted.  He's one of the very lucky ones. Tomorrow we'll be featuring 2 great adoptable dogs who've been in a shelter for over a year.  In fact, one has called the shelter home for over 5 years.

So, grab a dog.  A former shelter dog if you've got one.  Sit.  Stay.  Take a moment to reflect while you listen to Shelter Dog.

National Puppy Day: Dog Song Saturday

Saturday?  Time for a dog song at Talking Dogs!  

Today we're celebrating National Puppy Day with a fun music video of all kinds of sweet puppies and the Harry Nilsson Puppy Song, sung by Astrud Gilberto.

March 23, 2013 marks the 8th anniversary of National Puppy Day which was founded by Pet Lifestyle Expert, Colleen Paige.  Colleen is an animal rights advocate and runs the Animal Miracle Network.  National Puppy Day was established to promote adoptions from animal shelters, humane societies and rescue groups, as opposed to buying from pet stores.

National Puppy Day is also a day to simply celebrate the joy of puppies.  Join us on our Facebook page and post a photo of your special puppy!

We also like that this is short and sweet because just two weeks ago we adopted our little black Golden Retriever / Labrador mix puppy, Rosie.  And we need to play with her!

 It's Saturday, so time for a dog song at Talking Dogs.  Today's featured dog music video stars Loca the Pug singing The Pug That Couldn't Run, an original song.

Loca suffers from a brain disorder.  Surgery is possible, but risky and since Loca is healthy and able to walk, her family decided to leave her be.  As you can see from the video, Loca appears to have a great life, a loving family, and has plenty of fun.

In July, 2010, our obsession with dog songs began with Nellie McKay's The Dog Song.  Written to support shelter dog adoption, we simply love this song.  Jeffie and Rudy love the panting and barking!

It's Saturday, so time for a dog song at Talking Dogs!  Today's dog song music video is Olive's Song.  

An original song by Eric Watson, Olive's Song is available on his Sand In Our Toes CD.  As you can see from the music video, this song is about a Dachshund dog, Olive.  According to her owner, Olive was a very special little Doxie girl who eventually became a cart dog.  The song explores what Olive might be thinking about her life.

Adopt a Dog Today is a toe tapping tune with avery important message.  Skip Haynes and Steve Dale wrote this song for the American Humane Society and for use in pet adoption events.  Performed by the Laurel Mountain Animal Company, it's available on their It's All Right if My Dog Sleeps On the Bed All Night With Me cd.   The music video will make you smile as you enjoy photos of shelter dogs, many of which are shown with their new best friends in their furever homes.
