Cowboys and Rodeos: Dog Song Saturday with Horses

It's Saturday, so you're probably expecting a dog song music video here at Talking Dogs.   Not today.  However, I don't think you'll be disappointed!

If you've followed this blog for long, or are a fan of For Love of a Dog jewelry, you know that I love horses.  So, you won't be surprised that I simply could not resist sharing this video.

The song Cowboys and Rodeos is performed here by Colleen Peterson.  The video it accompanies features mares and their foals and was filmed by singer/songwriter Nancy Simmonds.  You'll see Appaloosas, Arabians, miniature horses and foals... lots of foals.

You don't have to be a cowgirl to enjoy frolicking foals!  In fact, I'm betting you're gonna want one for your very own.

Ugly Dogs Need More Love comes to us from our friend Skip Haynes at Pet CDs and is an original dog song music video celebrating shelter dogs.  All the dogs in this video are shelter dogs who were rescued and adopted into forever homes.  

Personally, I didn't see an ugly dog among the bunch and I was glad to see that the song credits state:  There are no ugly dogs!

Dog Song Saturday: Billy-G by Derek Luttrell

If its Saturday, then its time for a dog song at Talking Dogs!  Today we have another genuine original song about a dog.  Composed and performed here by Derek Luttrell, Billy-G tells the story of a rescue dog.

Billy-G lived as a stray near the Natural History Museum in downtown Los Angeles.  This poor six month old puppy had to figure out how to survive.  What a lucky boy he was that he was rescued and taken to Hope For Paws!  This music video shows the actual footage of that rescue.  We love happy stories, don't you?!

It's Saturday!  So, time for a dog song at Talking Dogs!  Today we have a beautiful original dog song for you.

I've Got a Feeling (The Animal Rescue Song) was written by Jayne Olderman and Dwayna Litz.  Included on Jayne's CD In the Moment, I've Got a Feeling is available on iTunes, AmazonMP3 and eMusic.

The music video that accompanies the song was also created by Jayne Olderman.  It tells the story of dog rescue and adoption.  Go ahead and watch - these are HAPPY STORIES!

The opening scene reminds me so much of the day we adopted Jeffie.  Yes, Jeffie was a shelter puppy and so this dog song seemed very appropriate to include in his gala month long birthday celebration.

Dog Song Saturday: Shelter Dog Music Video

It's Saturday!  Time for a dog song at Talking Dogs.  We're continuing Jeffie's month long birthday celebration with an appropriate dog song music video today.

Shelter Dog is an original dog song composed by Sandy Anderson and performed here by Eric Coslop.  The song was inspired by the dogs at the Cumberland County SPCA and the video encourages viewers to foster, volunteer, donate, and adopt from an animal shelter.  

Even if you cannot bear to see these dogs in a shelter environment, please give a listen to this lovely, poignant song.  And while you listen, consider  life as a shelter dog.

Jeffie was a shelter dog.  Even though a very cute puppy, he spent 4 weeks waiting to be adopted.  He's one of the very lucky ones. Tomorrow we'll be featuring 2 great adoptable dogs who've been in a shelter for over a year.  In fact, one has called the shelter home for over 5 years.

So, grab a dog.  A former shelter dog if you've got one.  Sit.  Stay.  Take a moment to reflect while you listen to Shelter Dog.

National Puppy Day: Dog Song Saturday

Today we're celebrating National Puppy Day with a fun music video of all kinds of sweet puppies and the Harry Nilsson Puppy Song, sung by Astrud Gilberto.

March 23, 2013 marks the 8th anniversary of National Puppy Day which was founded by Pet Lifestyle Expert, Colleen Paige.  Colleen is an animal rights advocate and runs the Animal Miracle Network.  National Puppy Day was established to promote adoptions from animal shelters, humane societies and rescue groups, as opposed to buying from pet stores.

National Puppy Day is also a day to simply celebrate the joy of puppies.  Join us on our Facebook page and post a photo of your special puppy!

Dog Song Saturday: I Wanna Go Home by Derek Luttrell

It's Saturday, so time for a dog song at Talking Dogs.  

We love truly original dog songs the best and today's is one of our favorites.  I Wanna Go Home (A Lonesome Tail) was written and is performed here by Derek Luttrell.

I Wanna Go Home, and the video it accompanies, tells the story of Socrates, a dog rescued by Hope For Paws.

Luttrell was asked to write a song about a stray dog with a happy ending and given the suggested title: "I Want To Go Home."  This blues / folk song is the result.  Here are the lyrics to I Wanna Go Home:

The song is available for download for only $1.00 and all proceeds are donated to Hope For Paws.  Hope for Paws is a non-profit animal rescue organization based in Los Angeles.  They rescue dogs and other animals suffering on the streets and in shelters, fostering them in their home until they find them permanent loving families.  The goal of Hope For Paws is to educate people on the importance of companion animals and stop the cycle of animal abuse and neglect.

February 26 is World Spay Day and we're celebrating a little early with Help!   Put together by the Alliance for Humane Action, this cat music video provides a very important message:  spay or neuter your cat.  Of course, the same is true for dog owners.

Before the Iditarod and the Yukon Quest, there was the All Alaska Sweepstakes.  This is the music video from the movie Running With Spirits - the 2008 All Alaska Sweepstakes.  (�2009 Husky Productions).  

The song, Dogs, Dogs, Dogs! is performed by Kyf Brewer and Jim Parkinson and the girls of Raining Hearts.  It is their salute to the true spirit of these sled dog races - the dogs!
